So I went for a drive under the big sky where the roads have no names
Headed for the horizon, ran out of gas in the middle of the North Dakota plains
Spent the night on the hood my car, lit my last cigarette and the wind took it away
(and the stars laughed their little heads off)

Just an actor in a one-act play
Spewin' lines on a beat up stage
No one planned a party after
Just echoes in the dusty rafters
